The only decent reception I get is from a 50000 watt station within 20 miles. Constant static and engine noise when accelerating. Had a new antennae installed. Could it be a bad ground or are they all like this? It drives me crazy.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The new/replacement antennae comes a unit with the cable. Make sure it is plugged into the back of the radio well. You should be getting alot better reception...

It may well be the head unit. I replaced mine with an Alpine that has excellent FM sensitivity. I can pull in stations from very far away. Roughly $200.00 head unit. I recommend the upgrade if you find the antennae is working properly. It is all in the tuner from that point.

I understand from other posts that there are some antenna grounding issues. Regrounding my antenna helped improve reception. Don't know about the noise issue.

The whine while accelerating makes it sound like a grounding problem.
