Hello all from Texas.

As I posted in 70 series US registry, I am having issues with repairing the wiper motor to wiper linkage. I can not figure how to install the plastic bushing. Before I get flamed, I did search on the forum but did not find anything that helps me out. Hoping that someone here can give me advice. Also, I need two bolts that hold the wiper motor in place. Does anyone know the part number for these bolts? I took a few pictures to highlight what my issues are.

I also want to add that while it looks simple to install the bushing, it is not being so simple for me. It will not stay on and I feel like I am either missing an additional part or step.

I looked on the electronic parts catalog and the diagram did not show the bushing or the bolts as separate parts to buy.

How did you try to attach the bushing? Is it in two parts that snap together?

been a long time since I re-installed my wiper motor and rack but I think I had the cowling off and hooked the rack linkage up from that side, don't have a part number for the bolts but they should be 6mm if you want to find something down at the hardware shop, good luck getting the job sorted.

You may need to actually install one half of the bushing over the ball portion attached to the motor(arrow 1) first then put the second half behind the hole, insert the ball portion through the hole, then snap together the bushing through the smaller hole using the plastic pin on the bushing. Clear as mud right? Then carefully bolt on the motor, taking care not to jar the bushing loose.

I think your bushing actually comes apart and one half goes on one side of the hole and the other half goes on the other side. Then they should snap together in place using the plastic pin through the small hole.

Hello,

First of all, thank you for taking a crack at helping me out. I feel dumb even asking about this bushing as it looks so simple to install but it does not seem to want to "snap together in place". I haven't tried again this week but I will be working on this during the weekend for sure when I have more time. I just don't have much time to tackle it during the week with work being in the way.

I will definitely post more pictures and tell you how I made it work should I successfully install it this weekend. :)

Yeah, they appear to be two parts that snap together. Trying to get my fingers in that small hole is no simple feat either.

Read the two notes or directions on what I posted. That should explain what's going on with your install. There's two different bushes you may have the wrong one.

Ozcruiser, thank you for the link. I am now wondering too if I got the wrong bushing. The one I have now is from cruiserparts and was told is the correct one.

Cruiserparts have sold me some wrong parts in the past where they claimed it was the right part.

I grew up with Toyota diesels so that was the last part I ordered there.

I have some 70 series parts coming in and if you are close to Dallas you might want to come over and compare yours.

Joe,

I think it is right part because it looks like the old part, however I could be wrong. I will be tackling this wiper issue this weekend and will report back (with pictures too). I tried to get a local shop near San Antonio (Boerne) called Performance Cruisers to take a look at it but they have not called me back .

Unfortunately I am not close to Dallas (live in San Antonio), however I go to the Ft.Worth/Dallas area sometimes because I have family in the area. I would still like to come over one day soon and see what parts you have for sale, there are some interior dash pieces I am looking for if you have such for LHD 70 series.

I have parts coming in frequently but they are going out faster then I can get them so there is usual not much to brows around in unless I am unloading a fresh container load.

Thanks Joe. I would still like to take a road trip with this cruiser, but not sure if I want to drive it 5 hours up I-35N. At least the A/C works good.

Update: I ended up taking the entire linkage out to install the bushing. This meant removing the cowl cover, wipers, and some other small parts. So I had the correct part, it was just a pita to install. Wipers are working good now and was able to get the truck to pass state inspection.
