Does anybody have a FSM for 1988 FJ 62? I want to change out the oxygen sensors but need some documentation to assist. If anyone can help with the FSM that would help immensely. I've read through the forum looking for the manual but some of the post are old and the links are outdated. Or any instruction/pictures would help.

Thanks

Darrell

Oxygen sensor

You make your life a lot easier if you take the downpipe off first :)

pretty straight forward....unplug wiring harness connectors at the O2 sensors and remove the nuts that secure the sensors to their bosses. the outside pipe is right there, no big, but the inside pipe is hard to get at. some take the trans tunnel off inside the rig and use a long extension to get at the nuts on it. Or, as stated above, you can drop the pipes from the manifold connection and at the cat flanges. this makes it alot easier to change the O2 sensors and make sure you have a good gasket seal on them. BUT you have to get the gaskets for the manifold and cat connections as well.....

Does anyone know why the fsm says except california vehicles under the o2 maintenance section?

Check the link in my sig for the FSMs. Cali runs different (stricter) emissions so the O2 sensor will be slightly different I believe. Get your normal run of the mill spray penetrating oil and those bolts will loosen right up.
