Does anyone have pics of there FJ62 with the OEM roof rack on there? How does it bolt to the roof and how do you like it?

see my "finally worth a pic..." thread. would much prefer a basket type rack, but it came with it. can get you additional pics, if you'd like.

Was the 62 OEM rack significantly different from the 60 OEM rack? The OEM rack on my 60 is completely worthless. I can (and do) carry more weight with the OEM rack on my Jetta.

Here is a pic of the 60 I found for my brother in 2005 in Denver. It had (and still has) the OEM rack.

Is it me or do your OEM racks look lower profile than mine?

Your rack looks like it is higher profile and shorter than mine. It also looks sturdier. Mine looks like the other two. There doesn't appear to be a center support tower on the lower profile racks

What OEM rack?

Toyota didn't offer a rack on US 60 series.

Some dealers would lay a generic chrome rack on the roof and shoot sheet metal screws through it. That would not be an acceptable install method for a Land Cruiser part.

yea, the star next to the part number means CDN, not usa.. but it looks like the factory roof pannel had holes in it and there were backing plates.

strange that all US models (i've seen) seem to have the same low-profile rack and the Canadian cruisers have the higher profile with the middle support. i guess the dealers could have used the same source for a dealer installed rack.

the oem roof rack is based on the whole roof being different. look at the part numbers, the roof panels are different. it looks like one panel has mounting holes and one does not

CDN spec racks are rated at 110lbs I believe and the roof has tapped holes for three screws per support. Definitely not an after thought type rack. Whether or not the US roofs have the tapped holes (covered up, that is) or not, I'm not sure. I'll check my 62 that I'm building and report back.

I removed my CND rack, pretty crappy little thing. I guess it looked cool in the time. Looked like a wagoneer.

I put my tire up there for a bit, when I strapped it down the roof dented. So really not ment for any load.

My new rack goes into the gutters. Much more secure.

Agree! There's no such thing as an OEM FJ60/FJ62 roof rack in the US. The racks that were shown in the original sales brochures were US made, dealer installed. And as Jim indicates, they're screwed into the roof.

The candian model ones had nut serts or welded anchor nuts on the inside. Defiantely stock.

Yeah they are definately screwed to the roof. Sucks when you decide to take it off because it is truly useless.

the best and true 60-2 roof rack
