Alrighty, I give up on using the search. ;p

Last couple of really hot days, after having driven the beast
home (over 35 mi) with the AC on (which I'm not sure is
a factor), if I stop somewhere and shut her off, she won't
start again w/o using the old farm trick of whacking the starting
with something heavy. I just replaced the starter a few months
ago...and it only happens when it's hot.

Any idears?

Also, do only tech posts apply to the number of your posts?
I searched on that as well...no luck (who knew?)

Cheers all,

I am going to guess that you replaced it with a parts store rebuild(prolly with a lifetime warantee), if so thats the problem, all they do is replace the contacts(if that) and in your case something else is haywire. The best replacement parts are from Toyota, they go thru everypart.

if your asking if its something besides the starter? then no its not.

well there is a chance you have a bad conection, but hiting it prolly wouldn't help.

You got a crappy replacement starter. Replace it. Or could just be a bad connection like Pimp says - maybe when it's hot something warps and opens the connection and when you hit it the connection closes. I dunno, I'm just making stuff up now...

LOL go ahead build up your numbers on my account Swank! :D

I'll buy the heat breaking the connection...funny that it was pretty
bad before replacing (even though 'whacking' helped then too)
now the same symptoms, but only when hot.

Good guesses in that it's the stock starter and was rebuilt, poorly
so I guess. I'll take it back and smack 'em around a bit ;p

Also, yes Landpimp, I WAS wondering if it where something else, but
after this conversation, I'm convinced it's still the starter.

You've all continued to earn your stripes!

Cheers all and thanks a bunch.
