I have a nice low miles FJ62 that is rust free with the exception of the lower drivers side front fender. Look for a good repair solution here. The entire fender can be replaced but this is costly and the existing fender is 95% good. I'm told it's going to be time consuming to pound out iron to weld in here due to all the contours. I would like to find a patch from an existing fender that could be used.

Any suggestions, options or ideas here?

An aftermarket fender is 295 (likely 375 with shipping). Unless you get the patch piece for cheap and do the welding yourself, you'll have quite a bit into patching it. Then there's painting it.

No easy solution here, unless you can find a clean used OEM fender, which seem rare these days.

A body shop could patch it effectively, but the price would probably approach that of a new fender. A local body shop guy talked me out of doing any repair on mine. That's right, he turned down business. He recommended cutting out the bad part, leaving a hole and treating the edges. "Better drainage that way", he said. So, that's what I've done. In this rainy part of AK, we're not too concerned about appearances. :D

Get a hold of Georg (orangefj45) if you are near Stockton California and see what his prices are and shipping for a fender. I got a rust free fender, valence, bumper and bezel from him to fix someones cruiser who had gotten rear ended for a fair price. I picked them up from his shop though so Idk about shipping costs. They are off color but the customer is repainting the rig.

No driver side right now, sorry.

Do FJ60 fenders fit correctly on FJ62's? Was told something about a missing tab for the signal lights, is that correct?

Shoot I have one at my parents house from georg actually for a 60 but ya I dont know how compatible they are. If you can make it work for a 62 we might be able to work something out.

Greg - there are some rollover trucks on Mud classifieds (including a white one) - perhaps you could get a lower fender cut shipped to you and have it welded on.
