Good Lord, can you imagine having a 1200lb engine in front of your 62? I wonder how long that axle is going to hold up?

The 6bt Cummins engine weighs in at 910# dry, with oil and water 970#. The origional engine weighs in at approx 650#. Not that much wieght diff and I've been running now for over a year, seems to hold up ok.
That may be, but add a clutch, flywheel transmission and youre looking at alot more weight than that truck was ever designed to carry. And a lot more than it came with.
It's going to be interesting to see how these things hold up over time.
If you want 3.70 FJ60 diffs I've two I'll trade for the FJ62 diffs![]()
The engine mounts are a rubber based mount very similar to origional, I made frame mount out of 1/4" plate and welded in. The cushions you see are air bags between the axle and frame. I took the rubber bumper stops out and put air bags in, run them with a small air compressor. Lifts the rig and gives it a good ride.I don't understand the engine mounts. Are they air bags or liquid filled mounts?
my money is on that POS trans going out first.. I think that era cuimins (160hp/400ft/lbs) is probably fine for the rest. Also that trans sucks about 30-50% of torque out of a 3FE, my guess is the same wit hthe Cummins to an extent..
Hi Dave, I stopped and talked to you a couple of times about your 40 and the 6AT. I hadn't seen your 62 at your shop... Are you still working there? Nice job on the conversion... if you had an intercooler do you think it would fit?
Doesn't the propane cool/consdense your intake air as well?
a few people have been asking about running airbags on there cruisers, can you give us a little more info on them. ride quality, articulation, cost, where you bought them from, what cadillac for compressor, etc.
thanx, and good looking rig!
Dave, awesome work on the conversion! Keep us posted on how it works out for you.
Cheers!
