The original blower on my fj62 finally died. It has been intermittant for a while now (basically it would run slow and i'd hit it with something and it would kick on high). Disassembled and found a few issues:

- Spring on one side is 1/2 the length of the other
- Brush on one side is completely separated from the wiring

Repair (and if so how do i reconnect the wire to the brush)?

Replace (and where should i source the part)?

Will this work?

Ironically, I pulled mine today, as it was screeching, and lubing it stopped the noise. I was wiping out the housing, and discovered the compost pile I had in front of the coil. If you haven't reached in there, its toward the center as the air would pass thru a small section, into the coil section, just to the right of the tranny hump. I'm familiar with this phenomenon from my Grand Waggoneer, only its in the fresh air vents in the foot wells. I pulled out as much as I could by hand and got most of the rest with a vacuum. My small shop vac with a 1" hose is not here, so I will have to go back in with it, as the turns are too tight and small for a regular vacuum hose. I didnt mean to hijack this thread, only to add that if you haven't cleaned it out, reach in there while you have it open.

Thanks I'll check the bearings. How do I test just by spinning with my hand? If they are ok are you saying that the brush wires disconnect from the housing and I can just replace them?

Thanks!

Which one of these is correct? The 12 volt or 24 volt? The 12 says it fits "TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 1981-1990" and the 24 says "TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 1981-1989." I ordered the 24 for my 85 FJ60 this morning and didn't realize there was a 12v option until I saw this just now.

USA gasoline FJ60s are all 12 volt for everything. 24 volt stuff was for the non-USA diesels.
Greeeaaatttt... Do you know if there's a resistor or something I can use to make the 24v work, or should I return it for a 12v?

The 24 volt fan will run at half speed (at all settings) when connected to 12 volts. At low, it may not rotate. Return it.

Okay, thanks for the heads up. Glad I figured this out before I installed it.

So I replaced the blower with a NAPA blower and it blows like a champ. Only problem is my compressor doesn't seem to be 'loading' anymore! Cooincidence or separate issue? It was cooling fine before the blower went out. Help!!!!

Turned out to be the low pressure switch... which is apparently 'up in the evaporator core'? $300 later.
