Will an H55f work with the FJ 62 transfercase (32 spline)? I think it will as it is the later larger shaft. Just checking.. thanks, Kief.

Yep.

Thanks, I know I've seen a thread in which the stock case was used in the H55f swap.. just couldn't remember the details.

Just make sure that the H55 you are using is for the gas engine. PN 33030-60450. I understand the diesels have a different input shaft.

The B diesels have a different input shaft, the H diesels' transmission is compatable with the gasser H55f.

It's longer as the same as the bellhousing is ..

So Kief, maybe in your studies you found the answer to this:

Will an FJ62 TCase fit an early FJ60 Tranny (80-84)?

My yearning is 3 fold

1) Already have 62 tcase - could rebuild early in anticipation
2) 34mm idler shaft
3) lower gears possibly

It will, but you will need to mod the shifter system. that has been pretty well covered in previous threads.

Since you basically build the t-case on the transmission, there is no reason to do it "early".

The FJ62 has a 38mm idler like the late FJ60 cases.

There has been much speculation about the gear ratios, but I believe all the USA cases are roughly 2.231315926 : 1. It is possible that the 62 has 1.99 : 1 like the overseas trucks, but you can count the gear teeth when you do your rebuild and then you will know.

Thanks, yeah I meant 38mm....

I was mostly concerned with bolt pattern and length of the tranny output shaft considering there is no spacer.

I would buy another tranny case - I have an H41 waiting, it's just in an early case (One-piece transfer). So I'd want to assemble the tranny and t-case ahead of time to simiplify the swap into my rig.

On the gear ratio - the tech trivia lists the auto gearing as 2.29 or thereabouts.
