FJ60 wiperblades

pretty sure I have both the large rubber thing and the small thing over the spines on my 86, no issues at all.

Well, I installed the 4Runner wiper arms and 18" blades and gave a quick water hose rain storm test...WOW! Amazing improvement over the stock 60 arms with decent blades. Better tension and better coverage really helps clear the glass. I have not even changed to new blades on the used arms I bought.

On the install, the passenger arm bolted right on and I had no problem clearing the big plastic trim ring around the wiper shaft in the cowl. The drivers side plastic trim did not want to fit, so I left it off until the new ones I ordered arrive.

I used a stock pair of 4Runner wiper arms - Short on the drivers side and a little longer on the passenger side. I did bend the tip of the passenger arm to match the angle of the drivers side arm. I clamped the arm in a vice and used a large adjustable wrench to bend it maybe a 1/4". It now sits at the same angle as the drivers side arm and fits perfectly along the bottom of the windshield.

Great up grade!

Calling it an "improvement" doesn't seem strong enough. The 4Runner arms are just so much better than the stock setup, it's more like "critical fix". Wait 'till you drive in the rain. Anyways...

Clearance between the outer trim and the arm is not an issue with the original setup because they're designed to sit more or less flush with the trim. 4Runner arms are designed to protrude into the trim...at least that's how it's going to work out on a 60 if you keep the trim.

Installing new plastic trim did not help with the fit on the driver's side for me. Here's the passenger side (old plastic), nicely centered and the arm fits like it should.

Driver's side with new outer trim. The arm will not go on with the outer trim in place, so I took the trim back off for the time being.

It seems like the linkage on this side needs to move backwards by a few mm or more. I didn't have time tonight to dig into it further to see if there's any adjustability to make that happen. The only hardware change I can find is the linkage went from 85160-90A05 to 85160-90A07 (superseding the earlier P/N) in 8608. This P/N seems to carry through to the end of FJ62 production.

So for others who have done this upgrade, has anyone else run into this same problem? Can the linkage be adjusted to center the pivot on the driver's side? Is the issue confined to pre 8608 and it goes away with the newer linkage?

And just because, new plasticky goodness....

Ok no need for my pics then since you got it going @doug720.
Installed my new Bosch Excel+ last night and just in time as we got a bit of rain this morning with the new storm coming in. New blades make such a difference, old ones which were maybe a year old would clatter and skip like no business. These are smooth as silk.

Weird thing is that I could have sworn that the system called for large blades than 16"ers. I have a little room top and bottom so I may splurge and grab a 17" for the drivers side but for now these work just fine.

Adding some two cents here regarding wipers, I've been running the rain X latitudes and they're a good wiper for the rain, but terrible for the snow.

There's two or three groves towards the top of the blade where the blade bends that water/ice/snow freezes in every time it snows. Total nuisance, never would have thought that would be an issue.

The Trico Blades only have one major flexpoint for the blade, and would likely be better in the elements. Just an FYI for the guys in the snow a lot, it would pay to check out the blades with a good eye

Does anyone know where to find the set screws? I have the original wiper setup but both black set screws fell out of my wiper arm

Is there a reason no one that has factory arms switched to the Bosch adapters? I'm looking at the 4runner arms and they're $50-60/each whereas a pair of these are $15

I have factory arms and run a bosh blade on the front and back. Their adapters work great and you don’t deal with those little screws.

Thanks I went and measured them ordered 18s a few days ago, now I gotta figure out the rear. Is it the same adapter?
Yeah. Usually there is an adapter in a white box inside that is what you need. Unscrew your original and snap the new one on. No screws for the new one. If it takes you more than two minutes you probably did something wrong, haha.

I’m new to owning a Land Cruiser, just bought a 1985 FJ60. Mine does not have a rear wiper - would that have been standard? There is nothing that would suggest it was removed, it’s just not there.
