JimmyC on the 40/55 list started a thread about the trim codes for those trucks. I didn't find a similar list here, so thought to start one off with my 'new' truck. My data plate lists the trim code as F01.1. I bought the truck from the origional owners, they swear it is the correct brown leather interior as ordered by the father-in-law from the factory. Same for the sunroof. Hope to find out more about this eventually. Dash, carpets, and cargo area are all grey.

There is really only 3 trim styles received in the USA. Your brown leather/vinyl seats and partial brown/leather/vinyl on the door cards are aftermarket. Your interior was originally grey which is shown on the dash and tops and bottoms of your door cards. Your carpet has also been exchanged.

Truck colors were as follows (don't have the codes handy, but it's pretty generic, no real deviation besides grey to shadow grey).

Grey (Fj60/bj60/hj60)
Brown ((Fj60/bj60/hj60, fj62)
Grey (86-87 FJ60s had the later cloth pattern in 62's)
Shadow Grey (FJ62).

Overseas received vinyl seats but again - drastically different.

It looks like the front portion of the floor only has insulation but not the actual carpet.

100% not original upholstery and 100% not a factory sunroof. The sunroof could have been dealer installed as an add on pre-sale but it didn’t ship from Japan with it.

Sunroofs are not and have never been dealer/PIO.

Sunroofs are always factory.

I've been skeptical about the interior from the beginning. Wouldn't be the first time a seller lied--I'm so shocked--but he swears his father-in-law ordered it from the factory that way, and says a hundred or so were built that way. One way to advance the discussion is to find out what trim code F01.1 translates to.

That brown doesn't even compliment the gray. No way Toyota would mix such mismatched colors in a vehicle.
Yes, it's not the most tasteful interior I've come across. It's a Japanese truck, forchissakes. You at all remembe what Japanese cars of the 50s & 60s were like? Probably too young. Again, before casting stones, let's find out what Trim Code F01.1 means. I've been looking for a while with no luck. From research so far, it IS a very unusual trim code.

Just jumping in to try and help. 16 year employee of TMNA and ordered the vehicles for New England region for 2 years. On internal reports, interior trims beginning with “F” reference fabric and have been that way for many years. Sounds like you are already skeptical that the leather came on the truck off the ship in Long Beach, so maybe this isn’t helpful. I’m sorry I can’t see anything to reference the 01.1. Those old docs and reports are long gone at HQ. Either way, looks like you have a nice rig to enjoy!!

Maybe I should have started a thread on my interior and a separate one on FJ60/62 Trim Codes with photos. JohnnyC has a good discussion with lots of Trim Codes going here:

It'd be nice to have the same thing here for 60/62s.

By chance, have you looked to see if there are intact gray seat covers underneath the leather? It definitely looks like added covers, to me. One other thing I would comment on: "IF" that truck was ordered that way back in '87, unless it's been stored inside (out of UV exposure) and never driven, that leather is in better shape than most 5 year old leather! I wouldn't expect it to look that good if "it came that way" back in '87.

At the end of the day, when your carpet arrives, you're likely to begin your search for new door panels and seats! The carpet does so much to change the interior, my guess is you're going to want to finish the rest of it.......(Unfortunately, the '87-'90 cloth is the most likely to be trashed. '81-'86 is bad enough, but for some reason, the last 60 and all 62 interiors seem more susceptible to having the fabric tear.)

Wouldn't there be brown or tan plastic seat belt covers instead of what looks like gray to me who knows

I think your trim code is actually FQ11
You sir are half and maybe completely correct, to my embarrassment and chagrin. I cleaned up the plate some and took a high resolution picture of it. As far as I can tell now, the trim code is FQ1.1 or FQ11. Did some diabolical soul punch a nice little dot in between the two ones? I don't think so, but I'm at a loss entirely now on this one.

Does anybody know about an FQ1.1 or FQ11 trim code ?

That's a good point. I have the seats out waiting for your cool carpet set and will have a closer look. The front window cranks are pretty faded, but the truck spent it's entire life in (relatively) low-UV Washington state. Man, I'm actually beginning to believe the PO did lie his butt off to me, or his father-in-law (origional purchaser) lied to him. I tend to believe people even at this advanced age. First time that's ever happened to me.

There's always the default position if it turns out to be a post-factory interior I still have an FJ60, that I was finally able to afford.
