I am looking for a good set of running boards for an fj60. I know ARB has some but i was hoping for somthing cheaper. Would anyone happen to know of a cheaper option (i.e., Products from other vehicles that may fit)?

Do you mean honest-to-goodness grandpa's old truck style running boards? What you're going to find here in the US is sliders built with extra kickout to act as steps, but no true running boards made to fit.

If you really meant running boards, then you should go through the JC Whitney catalog (or equivalent) as see if you can find a set close enough to hack up and make fit.

i have an SOA, and trying to make it easier for other to get it. I am 6'1 and have a hard time getting in.

You're looking for sliders. Possibly with a little extra kick out. A regular slider should give you enough of a step. Search google for "slider" options or even within this forum. You should find what you need.

White knuckle off road, that's who I was thinking of. They are even in the republic of California so you don't have to pay shipping. Road trip!:bounce:

so far the best ones i have seen are the ARB. It is a functional step.

I think you are going to have a hard time finding running boards you are happy with, especially if you are going to take the truck off-road. You should search this forum for sliders to get some ideas. I have bolt on sliders from 4x4 labs (grass valley). They work OK for a step, but I have to be careful to orient my foot parallel to the slider. This thread has a slider mod that was recently posted. I've seen others that weld expanded metal to the top, etc.

I don't know if anyone has done this, but my friend's Ford truck has some slick electric running boards. These tuck up nice at tight against the body when the doors are closed and come down when you open the door. I have thought that these would be great since the would be tucked up when wheeling so would be less likely to be damaged. You could even put an "off" switch to override the automatic lowering.

I think there are a number of aftermarket electric running boards out there. Just haven't read of anyone using one on their cruiser.

slight hijack.

Are white White knuckle and ARB the only ones making sliders for the 60 now? I see both 4x4 labs and Slee are not any more.

Can anyone comment on the relative quality for the White knuckle and ARB sliders? The White knuckle is considerably more.

If you don't take up the above offers, or have a local shop fab up a set for you.....

Use Toy pickup sliders (67" or so in length) offered up by Marlin or Trail Gear for your cruiser. Dozens of folks have done it and posted up about it. If you don't weld, then maybe contact a local cruiser club and solicit for help. Note that (seemingly to me, anyway) a majority of people elect to reroute their exhaust before installing any sliders instead of modding the sliders to fit around that awkward stock exhaust arrangement.

Regardless, this is a very common addition to many offroaded trucks, so trust that this ground has been well traveled before.

i like the HFs4x4 style, but way to much. The marlin idea looks good. I would always add to it to make a better step surface.
