FJ60 Recalls?

FWIW The rear seat belt retractor fix didn't help my 60 at all.....still can't get the buggers to pull out.

I have the 82 fj60 with the same fuel tank recall. My local dealer does not do it anymore, because they can not get the parts any longer. Besides. When they looked up the vin. They found that mine has been done twice all ready and did not want to do it again.

I don't know about Bob, but my Toyota dealer covered everything, I read that they replace vent hoses, I got a brand new fuel tank. I don't know if the tank is part of the recall, but you should see the techs faces when I showed up with my rust bucket!!!:grinpimp:

I am a lazy fatass.

and I have the avatar to prove it. The search has a million hits to it.

So can someone just tell me if there is a record, database, or way to tell if your rig has had the recall done?

I've had mine for 3y, and y'all have talked me into remembering I smell gas on occasion too, just figured it was on my hands or clothes....

Call your local Toyota dealer with the vin # and they can do a search to see if it has been done for your truck.

Tom

But what if they just decide to say "Yeah, sure, it's been done" just so that they don't have to do it?

There needs to be some sort of Database where WE can search to see if it really has been done.

I mean, far be it for a Dealership to not tell the truth!

I called up a dealership today and asked if and when it was done for my 60. 11/23/1993 for the belts and 7/14/1994 for the tank...perhaps I should call up another dealership and see if they come up with the same dates.

Just got off phone with dealer and they said both done, 1994 seatbelts and 1997 fuel tank.

There is no incentive for them to falsify the repairs. They get reimburesed by Toyota for the work, and they would incur HUGE
liability if there was a problem related to a recall.

To ease your mind, call several dealerships with your vin#.

That's what I had to do. I called many (10) dealers. They all said the same thing. Mine has been done two times.
With mine, I found that the fuel lines were rusted. NOT THE TANK. They were causeing all kinds of things. As far as a database for us to locate info. I have NOT found one YET. I am still looking, but for now we have to trust the dealer.
