I run an FJ60 steering gear in my FJ40. Just pulled the box out and got it apart to drill and tap for hydro assist today.

I've got the rebuild kit coming from CDan, as my box was leaking before I pulled it.

I've found a few threads on Mud that talk vaguely about rebuilding the box, but nothing with much specifics. I have an FZJ80 FSM, but no 60 series manual. Can anyone confirm whether or not the FZJ80 torque + preload specs will apply to the FJ60 box? If not, is there anyone that would mind scanning and sending me the PS Box pages out of a 60 series FSM? I would rather not buy the manual for this one-time use.

Thanks!

I've read it. It was very useful for dissasembly and drilling/tapping.

However, it does not cover reassembly torques and preloads. I'm primarily concerned with the sector shaft adjuster bolt, not sure how it needs to be tightened upon assembly.

Thanks.

torque and preload is not much of an issue. Snug up the bolts good and you are done.

Tighten the sector shaft till you have very little play in the steering wheel.

It really is that simple.
