I live in Jacksonville and have a desmogged 1984 FJ60 that needs an engine rebuild. Four cylinders have low compression and there is oil and smoke coming out of the valve cover breather. Any suggestions on where to get it rebuilt?

Your garage

^^^ you funny.

I'm not so sure we've got a lot of north Floridians around here, but if Atlanta isn't too far from you, there's a lot of good options there.

I would try to take it on in my garage if I had the equipment and tools to do it. Thanks for the suggestion. What options are in Atlanta?

ACC is one of the best.

Check them out - you won't be disappointed if you want good service.

We can probably drag up some other options if they don't pan out for you, but ACC is a good group of guys who really have a love for these rigs.

Call Jasper and see if they have a rebuild for you. They don't at all locations but they can nationwide warranty their stuff and if your nor doing anything special it might save you some money. I lived in JAX when I built my 2f for the 40 and I was not impressed with the work done there. I could have gotten a complete motor from Jasper cheaper then my machine shop bill for just the block.

Another (and much cheaper option) is to swap in a lower mileage 2F, and regasket it while it's out.

Don't you mean D'oh!
