My truck is actually eligible for the gas tank recall but the dealership won't honor as theres currently no original gas tank in the truck. It pains me to pay for OME when it could be free. All gas tanks considered thanks

The dealership that I called in riverside, CA said they’d replace the tank but I would need to have the original tank(or any fj60 tank) which I do not have. I believe there’s a few OEM tanks around the LA area available.

If you'll cover the shipping, I'm pretty sure a scrap tank could find its way to you. I know of one off hand that's sitting in a barn.
There is one in an ‘82 in my front yard. If you want to pull it, you can have it for a few six packs of IPA.

PM’D. Spoke with Toyota in the city of orange and they advised the tank would not need to be installed for them to honour the recall but would need to complete an inspection of the vehicle. It’s nearly all original so shouldn’t have any problems. Fingers crossed

My bad 65swb45, threw in the towel trying to get it fixed through the recall. Got a used tank from SOR in the end and it’s being fitted this week. Through this whole tank calamity I’ve now got a spare 62 gas tank if anyone wants it. Nearly went down the fuel injection route but bailed out of that too. At least I know to bring IPA with me when I need my carb rebuilt cheers
WOW, you paid SOR price for a used tank, then paying someone to install it, when you could have gotten a brand new tank and had it installed for you at no charge, by just finding an old tank and having it with the truck.

WOW, great work Holmes you solved it again. Logistically I couldn’t have made the recall work without a lot of time and effort which I don’t have. For what it’s worth I can still get the recall so I guess it’s a buy one get one free situation.
