I have an 87 FJ60. I am currently replacing my radiator, thermostat, fan clutch and water pump. I have been running O'Riellys green coolant for the past few years. That being said, I have had overheating issues since. I was planning on switching to a better coolant.

I have read on MUD about John Deere Cool-Guard II and Zerex. I was planning on switching to the Zerex Asian Vehicle Red. Has anyone done this? Is it okay for the car? I know I need to flush to system since red and green can't mix. I can order Zerex Original Green and John Deere online, however the Zerex Red is available in store (and cheaper).

Does anyone have any other recommendations on what coolant to use?

I appreciate any help!

I've been using the Zerex Original Green from amazon for a few years.
I Live in Houston with triple digit temps, horrid humidity, stuck in traffic with the A/C on max.
No overheating issues using it.

Why would you not use the OEM Toyota red coolant if you’re going to pay virtually the same price for Zerex Asian?

Find your local dealer, use their online discount purchase price, and you can get a gallon of OEM red for just about 20 bucks a gallon. I don’t know where you are in Phoenix, but here it is available at Camelback Toyota. 6 gallon case for $120. I paid a little bit less in Austin ($112).

Just a side note, not trying to get into the red versus greed coolant war.
I'm in the process of replacing my head this weekend, it was time 400k and I wanted to have it rebuilt before my annual Arkansas trip. Upon draining my coolant and inspecting the coolant paths in the head and block, I was pleased not to see any corrosion issues from using the old green stuff.
Just thought I'd share that since I'm in the process of doing it.
