Looks like my sending unit finally died out on me. All week long my gauge was fluctuating from full to empty and so forth on a full tank then from 1/2 tank to empty after using a few gallons. Now that I drove it one week it reads empty when it should be reading 1/2 full.
So I took the sending unit out and when I move the float arm from "empty" to 3/4 of the way I get a reading of 12V then it drops to 5V from a bit past 3/4 to "full". Looking at the gauge at the same time, it remains on empty when moving the float from "empty" to 3/4. The gauge will finally move to full when it senses the 5V.
The wagon came w/an aftermarket sending unit installed where you have to bend the float arm to give the proper reading + it also bolted on correctly. I think I threw it away once I got a hold an original sending unit 13 yrs. ago.
Any way to rehab the stock sending unit? The ground is good, the gauge is good (I tried a second one as well).
Anyone know of an aftermarket sending unit that will fit an FJ45LV wagon gas tank?
Thanks
