Very interested to see how you go...
Have you given much thought to cooling? I have been having issues keeping a 308ci V8 cool, not sure how a bigger motor (and possibly supercharger) would go? The biggest problem is the standard radiator is pretty small compared to the radiators in most modern cars. There is only enough room for a single 16" thermofan, so keeping it cool might be tricky. Although costly, you might have to end up with a PWR radiator and SPAL extreme thermofan.
Will watch with interest....
Also, have you given any thought to oil starvation? Not sure about that motor specifically, but i know some engines can have issues with oil pickup/starvation when doing extreme angles. Might need to look into a larger capacity sump (Maybe try ASR) or look at an oil accumulator.
Cheers
Hi Feistl, cooling shouldn't be a major issue. The engine actually sits back a bit further than you would think and I may be able to run with the standard radiator , which is very thin and thermofan set up. Your older engines always seem to have more issues with cooling due in part to being big lumps of steel....takes a lot more to cool down steel once it heats up than alloy. If you haven't tried it yet, maybe look at the Redline water wetter, it essentially disapates the heat throughout the cooling system and reduces "hot spots". I have suggested this to a few of my customers having the same sort of issues keeping the older V8s cool when there is little air flow and it has worked a treat!

I'll probably screw around with all the cooling much later in the build...plenty of options out there! Thanks for the input!
Good point about the oil pick up hadn't really thought of it, mainly because this engine is used in some of the F trucks as the "triton" engine. I'll do a bit of research on the sump and pickup of the effy, cheers for the heads up!
