Soft will have to be custom no more OEM tops look at the paki tops

Your color is "Rustic Green" and the code number (per www.ccot.com's website) is 621.

The top you have on there now is an aftermarket fiberglass....I don't believe the OEM hardtops came to your part of the world. As said above, an OEM soft top is not offered by anyone and will have to be custom made. You may want to PM SouthBoston (?) on this board to see if he has any ideas.

OEM power steering would be tough (and expensive) to source, so you may want to consider the mini-truck conversion....there's tons of information here if you search on that modification.

Great truck....welcome to MUD!

Thanks

another question?

what's the difference between f2 gasoline engine 1978 and 1980?
the F2 80 is the same 4.200cc but the sound is more loud like more power.

there won't be significant differences between a 1980 and 1978 2F, perhaps some refinement in the machining and manufacturing processes, but nothing significant. the 2f didn't have as long a run as the F, so there are less sub-variants (IE F has F135, F155, etc, to my knowledge 2F is just 2F) If there were any differences they'd likely be in the intake manifold/carburetor area.

Sweet truck, great find!

At least in the states, the main difference between a '78 and an '80 2F is the emmissions stuff. Not sure what is there and not there in an overseas setup. Don't the later 2F's have a different piston shape (domed or flat, don't remember which) than the earlier ones? Yes, the intake/exhaust manifolds are different, too, I believe.

Just raided the FAQ.

At some point post 1980, they lighten up the overall motor by playing with the head/valves, they probably did dome the pistons by then, I know that by 81 the 20r had less compression due to domed pistons and a thicker HG, all due to emissions control.

Considering this is an FJ43, it's probably non-US and may not have all that emissions crap the feds make us smother our engines with.

Pipen, if you may be contemplating swapping a later motor, I wouldn't. The 2F is a great offroad motor, and a wise choice for Toyota to install. Granted it's far from economical, and slow, it makes up for it in just sheer grunt, and with the right gearing can make a cruiser climb a tree. If you were interested in better performance, you can look into dropping in a later carb and intake manifold, but the overall gains wouldn't be huge.

Also, there are some who will tell you to put an aftermarket carb or headers on this, I say keep it stock. The reason is that toyota designed this engine to get the best overall performance, and balance fuel intake with overall torque, a Webber may give you more torque, but your fuel consumption may suffer, likewise, people say that headers will improve performance, but, honestly not too terribly. What will improve is the quantity of headaches you invite in trying to wrench down problematic mods.

For the soft top, SouthbostonFJ is a great guy, I bought my rocker panels from him, and Ehsan makes a very good, very workable product, I'm sure they'll be able to help you get a nice top (which would look great on your green beastie, there).

Head valves visualy looks diferent.

you right. no FJ43 imported to US, mine is from japan (no Brazil) and imported to Colombia.
but I guess is almost the same FJ40, a little bit longer and emissions diferent.
Right now the truck is in colombia but I'm thinking bring in to texas.

the aftermarket hard top is very unusual, close to OEM but slightly different shaped. The stock split rims will scare the hell out of any tire shop you take it to. I see the exhaust comes out the right side as well. Beautiful rig, if you get it to the states it would definitely be a one of a kind.

Sweet a JDM FJ43, all the better! The Japanese always keep the good stuff to themselves.

one more FJ43 78 of one of my friends.

some P/N for air conditioner assembly?
