Does anyone have an extra leaf spring, right front, for a 9/72 FJ40. I really do not care about arc that may cause sag. I am concerned that my bent one will snap one day. Or is it something I should not be too concerned about?

I will eventually replace with OME 2.5" Lift Kit. But need to put money toward a new engine and tranny.

For the curious:

Thanks,

We've got a set of four. And KYB shocks to match them. I don't think they are original, but some aftermarket lift. Our OME 2.5 ended up being about 1" higher than these.

They ride harsh compared to the OME.

They're all yours if you want them. Pick a price.

If my neighbor has not used or cut up the stock ones I gave him from my '71 40, I might be able to get one from him. I can call him in the morning if you are intrested.

Can you tell me a little more about the aftermarket lift so I can make a reasonable offer? Did you try out the setup and decided the setup was too stiff? If you did try out the springs and shocks, how much use did the KYB shocks get?

It was one the truck when Dad bought it. I have no idea how many miles were on it, I assume 20K+ for the springs and shocks. It rides harsh compared to the OME, but not THAT bad. Still a softer ride than the Power Wagons we've got.

We bought the OME because we thought that was the original suspension (had no reason to believe otherwise), and wanted just a touch of lift and had heard that the OME rode really nicely (it does--very nicely).

Reasonable probably just gets them off the driveway. They've been sitting there for 1 1/2 years now, and if someone else has some use for them--great.

That would be great if you could as ask your neighbor if the front spring is still available.

Thanks.

If Rudy's neighbor doesn't come through and you decide to go stock, instead of the lift, let me know. I actually got to do a 1/2 day wrenching today and in the process cleaned out some parts from the shed and I found an original set from a '73. Let me know if you're interested. I live in RR. Just say the word, they are yours!

He still has them. I assume you would want to swap both of the fronts, to make sure you don't have any leans or differences. Let me know if you want to swap them out (He has some things he is planning to build with them). He has no problems with a bent one. I might even have an extra set of new bushings somewhere.

Lets do the swap for both fronts. It would be great if you has an extra set of bushings...mine are shot. I will PM you with my phone number so you can put me in contact with your neighbor so you do not have to spend your time organizing the swap.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the offer. However, I think Rudy and I may have organized the swap. Fixing the leaf spring is just a band-aid until I put on OME 2.5" lift next year.
