Wanted FJ40 Landcruiser live in WY

Howdy, long time lurker on the site. It's a great site. I sold my 76 Bronco (my baby) 5 years ago and I cuss myself daily for doing so. Winters are long here in WY and I need a project to work on. I've never had an FJ40 and I'm looking to purchase one in the near future. Many friends have them and I've been impressed. I'd be willing to spend up to 10k. I'm in no rush whatsoever. I do not plan to restore and sell but rather I want a rig I can work on and keep forever. This will not be used for hardcore rock crawling. . . I plan to use it mostly for getting me to places to hunt and fish. So it will spend quite a bit of time on dirt. I don't know much about the FJ40's but I'm looking to rolling up my sleeves and diving in.

Any advice or suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you,

Dave

Good idea. Is that the restoration shop in Sheridan? I just called on a local FJ40 for sale (local being 3 hours away) and he said he'd just sold it to the restoration shop up there. They may have some leads. . .if it's the one I'm thinking of they do some great restoration work but might be a little out of my league price-wise. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the tips. I'll reach out to Woody's. I have not checked out lcnation.com but will do so.

Contact this guy. He has a nice '76 that's about to hit the market. I think he's asking $10K. He's in Austin, Texas.

Update. Sorry guys, the truck is sold and Eric asked that I remove his email address.

Just sent him an email. Thank you for the intel. BTW, I'm in the process of reading your wonderful story about saving the rust bucket. You're a gifted and amazing writer. Thank you for sharing the story.

Thanks man. There's a couple of Wyoming chapters in there. I love your state, spent a lot of time around Casper as a kid when my Dad was working there. I have a few more Rustbucket tales partially written and waiting in the pipeline, just need to ask Poser to reactivate the thread so I can get us out of Montana.

I forgot that I had these pics of Eric's truck, if he hasn't already sent them to you.

Thanks for the photos. I haven't heard back from Eric but I did send him an email and asked him to give me a call. Well, if you ever get back up this way give me a holler. I'll get you out on the Platte fishing, or if nothing else we'll throw a few elk steaks on the grill. Thanks again.

I'll be in Casper next month. My company has several offices in the state. I've always wanted to come up with my rig to do an Elk hunt but I'd have to give myself several weeks off to pull that trip.

Well, holler when you get up here and we'll have you over for some elk steaks and a cool refreshing beverage (or 3). There's a lot of areas conducive to elk hunting in a 40. You may already know them but if you're ever interested let me know and I'll turn you on to some hunt units. Here's the guy I lucked into last year. This was 17 miles in via horses.

nice tag there, wish those were in my backyard...

Nice Elk! Have you found a 40 yet? I might have one in Billings. I have a guy in Denver that says he wants it, but just checking.
