Wildman and I are talking about how to come up with a soft half top.

I just built a new cage and designed the cage so that it would support my top. I used the bestop supports around the doors and welded some tabs to the roolbar for these supports. I can still use the bestop as it is and thought about cutting it down, but it is a little beat. my truck is in pieces, so no pics at this time. here are some other pics I saved.

I have always liked the half top. Matt's truck looks good with both the top he had originally as well as the top shown.

I am planning to sew a half top this summer. I plan to include a flat-ish cover for the "bed" section as I would like to keep it as dry as possible.

I'd like do have the same type top.
I have enough hardtop parts laying around to go that route
but then I need to figure out how to get it on with the 2 cage
braces that run to the rear. Soft top would be ideal.

I am looking to use OEM bows beaucse I have them. But it would be cool to make a custom totaly bolt on top for somebody with a stock roll bar (or under the hard top cage) But my trucks not even close to stock...

I like the one-off approach like the one above. Use the roll bar as the hoop and the stock
door frames. Removable rear but still have the top over you.

You would need a stock hoop set (or at least the front bow&channel setup) to make the door frames though. Thats the touble I am coming up with, unless you chop a section out of a hard top, and get crazy with welding up the back edges. But then your back to custom again.

Half Top

I brought my cruiser to the upolstrey guy to modify my bestop into a half top. I designed the roll bar to be the frame for the top. The rear window velcro's around the roll bar and comes out seperate.

$404 It has a piece of electrical conduit above the rear window. The two loops that hang are for a strap to stretch it tight. I did not try it in today's cold weather.
