I have a frame, engine, tranny and transfer case (somewhat rolling frame) that has been sitting for around 20 years. The engine is most likely not good, water got in there and was sitting outside for many years. Most parts have seemed to have disappeared over the years so I would have to source another parts cruiser or buy a lot of parts. I'm not sure if I'll ever get to rebuild it. My main question is, is the title and frame worth anything? I can't find the vin plate that was on the firewall (not sure if that's important), I think I took it off years ago and can't find it. Thoughts??

Thanks for any input,

Jeff

What you have is very cool, but a long way from a running truck. The axles and parts could be very useful in sprucing up an earlier FJ40, so if you find a '71 FJ40 that catches your eye, you could put your axles, transmission, transfer case, etc. in it.

What you have is sucking up a lot of garage space. You could break it down and stash the frame behind the tool shed, and stack the axles in a corner. Or, sell it all outright. I guess it depends on how badly you ever want a '40 in any shape or form.

I know people have done it a thousand times but can I just get a vin plate made and put on a new body without much hassle? I can do mechanical work but metal fabrication is not my forte', so I would have to buy a complete tub. I've seen mixed reviews on the bodies (aluminum or steel), so I'm not sure what to do. From what I can gather it will cost about $10k for a complete body ready for paint.

Thanks for the advise.

'Ok would like you to inform me if you do decide to sell.'

Will do.

If you have the title, @ToyotaMatt can hook you up with a new vin plate.
