1st- About me: For those of you who dont know my name's Brysen and im 16 and looking for a 40 for my first car and daily driver. I fell in love with 40's since i first laid eyes on one and my heart and mind is set on getting one (there's no talking me out of it seriously). I live in Charlotte,NC so its a bit of a challenge finding one around where I live, but I'm willing to travel to find the "right" one. I've been looking for over a year now, and have been on mid since march so i know something about 40's and cruisers (or at least i think i do haha). Ive talked with many members of my local club ONSC and I've got a tread on their page as well. I'm just ready to find the right one and hopefully y'all can help me out in some way or another.

2nd The Search Story: Still looking for a 40 for my first car and daily driver. Willing to travel a bit but I live in Charlotte,NC so it's gonna be a challenge to find one close by in my area. Don't really have a preference on year, but if life was perfect I'd like a later model one with the 2f, amby doors, etc. but like I said that's not my main focus and I'll be satisfied with any year as long as it's a 40 haha. The biggest thing that Id like is the body to be as rust free as possible (I know since they're older that they won't be perfect) and for it to be as mechanically sound as possible to begin with (again I know that they're older and it won't be perfect, and I'm going to have problems). I want to be able to learn and work on it myself and be able to fix it on my own (of course with the help of all of y'all too). My price cap is around 8k and I know what most of y'all are gonna say is that most of the really nice dd are 15k or more and they are but I'm not looking for a fancy sports car or something fresh off the assembly line and I'm not looking for a street racer. It's gonna be my dd to school, work, church, and around town. I'm not gonna be trying to go on cross country trips or fly 100 mph down the road so please don't think I'm some naive kid, because I'm not and I've done my hw and I'm on mud all the time reading and learning as much as possible. I love 40's and cruisers in general and want to be able to own one of my own and and preserve these great and legendary vehicles. Thanks for helping me out and please let me know if you have one for sale or if you know of any for sale. Thanks again. Contact me through pm on mud, post a reply here, or text or call me on my cell anytime at 704-516-4029 (if I don't reply right away leave a message and I'll get back to you ASAP). I'm serious about getting one and I know what I'm getting into so don't think I'm way in over my head cause I'm not. Thanks again and let me know.

How much you willing to spend?

Sorry if its in the paragraph, I'm too tired to keep track of all those sentences running back to back. Might break that up a little.

Good luck with your search!

Sorry if I got too wordy (which I did). Just wanted to let everyone know as much of my story and info as possible. Around 8k or so is what I'm looking to find one for. I know a lot of the nice dd ones are 15k or up but I'm not looking for a perfect restored one or anything like that but I'm also not looking for a scrap pile either. Do you know of any or have one?

A the present time I don't have one in mind but will start searching. You have done the right thing by posting. Someone is going to be familiar with one or selling one soon.

I think your priced right for what you want. I just bought 78 with 88k miles on it. It does have some rust issues but by the time I was to do the work it would be around 8k.

I have purchased several cruisers, no less than 10 in last 2 years. Craigslist has been the best avenue for me. If you find one that sounds good contact local club and have someone look over it. Download craigslist pro where you can search an entire state at a time.

I like your enthusiasm, and to acquire the addiction at such a young age is incredible! I'm sure there are others who will join me in saying lets find you a cruiser:cheers:

Don't know if you've had any luck yet or not; however, there is this one I ran across in Tampa, Fl.

It's a 76 if I recall correctly, and looks to be in pretty darned good condition. 1F engine, didn't see any real rust and the interior looked pretty decent from what I could see from the outside.

Guy is asking $13,500.00 for it, again if I recall correctly, but hasn't been able to sell it. I would imagine he can be negotiated down a bit.

I have no affiliation with him other than being nosey when I saw it. If you're interested, I'll get you his number.

Ok. Definitely let me know about your buddies one. Can you get some pics? That's definitely what my goal is haha. I want to preserve a classic. I've fallen in love with them ever since I first laid eyes on one. Once I do finally have mine. I'm gonna keep it forever (or at least that's my plan haha). Keep the leads coming.

I am glad some of you younger guys have good taste. I drove a 77 with a 2f all through High School and loved it. How far are you willing to travel?

Wow otool thats a good one he'll learn alot on that one.Id say that's right up his alley price wise an ruggedness. He'll et more pune than brad pitt.Go et it boy!

$7500 really? Seems little rich to me, $5000 probably closer to realistic but seller may be thinking of aim high to get his true price.

This was $4000 rig I bought a few months ago. It needs some body work but blows that $7500 toyota body with a Chevy engine out of the water. Be patient and something is gonna work out.

Nice rig! Looks like you got a great deal for 4k. It depends on where the rig is and it's price/condition on how far we'll travel (not to mention if my parents will want to go or not). I think I've convinced them that we're going to have to travel a ways to find it (more than just around NC where I live and further than Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, or Florida cause there's just not many around here plus the ones that are out there are either rust buckets or are way overpriced or are total restoration ones that I can't afford). My pops has said he'd be willing to go to Cincinnati, OH for one I found awhile back but we never went so at least 10 hours or so away. It just all depends like I said. I think they finally get it that we're gonna have to travel some.

If green beast is selling that liht blue one for 4 thousand . You can get car check to check it out for 150.00 an if all is good pay shipping for about 700.00 car check does a 100 point inspection an looks at every thing as well as takes pictures. I like that blue cruiser. An dont let a little rust scare you away you can learn how to work on it cant you an have pride in saying i did that no matter if it looks like crap are not. are hell body panels for the 40 are cheap an a fab shop isnt gonna kill you with the price. Are take it to a paint an body shop if you dont wanna f 888888c with it. If your gonna drop 10,000 in one buy one for 5000.00 an drop the other 5 in everything else.
