FJ40 cut front fender pics and ideas

Rust has gotten the first 2" or so on the outer lip of my front fenders . I will be doing tube genders down the road but my cruiser had more pressing issues at the moment and cash is tight. I am planning to cut 3" back with a cutoff wheel but want it to look decent. Anyone done this? Any pics or ideas? Thanks

A friend just did the same to fit bigger tires. He cut the fenders and welded .25" solid rod adjacent (below) to the cut edge to retain some strength and not have a sharp edge. Sort of difficult to explain but it makes it look as though he rolled the edge. He's planning on doing tube fenders in the future as well.

here's what i did years ago on a 40 i had... I welded some 1/2" round stock to edge to stiffin it up...
