I was having some trouble with my fj40 charging system. Thought it was a bad voltage regulator turned out the alternator just isn't powerful enough for all the stuff I have on my 40 even with the 80 amp alternator. I have several electric fans and high output off-road lights and winch etc so it all pulls a lot of juice. Everything is still good and works I ended up going to a higher output GM setup. So here is my old toyota stuff.
Man-a-fre high out put 80 amp alternator for 77 fj40. Comes with pigtail, no pulley. 40 bucks not including shipping. Not pretty but works fine.
Next is a voltage regulator that is about a year old. 40 bucks shipped, needs wires spliced back on.
