But if you loosened the top bearing cap, slid the shaft into both bushings, wouldn't you be able to use a feel gauge for an accurate measurement under the cap?

Well, all I can say is have fun with it. This may help https://www.marlincrawler.com/guide/SST_Knuckle_Alignment_Tool.pdf

Alrighty, I made some changes and it's looking pretty good. Anyone know where I can find the exact tolerance spec for knuckle alignment? I think I can realistically get under +-.5mm, but I don't know if that is good enough.

I appreciate all the feedback! A big part of why I am doing this is to get a cheaper (maybe better) tool out there. If it's plastic, I could probably sell it for less than $40 shipped. Stay posted, I will have an updated design to post in a day...

It's a bit counterintuitive, but the tool shows I need to raise the center line of the spindle, which would mean adding spacers to the bottom.

I do plan to sell this in some capacity, but I need to validate it a bit. I am a bit worried about other people printing it because printer settings can impact the actual part size once they cool.

Hi all, I am attempting to design a new tool for aligning the knuckles. The goal is to make something that is a lot cheaper and is more fool proof. Here is a video running through the basic idea. I would love some feedback.
