I cant seem to find anyone besides SOR (BIG $$$) that has alternators with internal regulators! Any ideas...anyone have one or info of where to get one?

I got two stock alternators from @ToyotaMatt a couple years ago for both my 40 & 60. Not sure if he has any more but the price was right and the quality was good.

Thanks. I'll get with him.

.

what is your current set-up going on ?

please elaborate on your request for a internally regulated internally ...?

knowing your year and make and specifics like what engine etc, will help .

i have seen your FST post's recently , so if this is a older era truck like a F1.5 or Siamese F , you need to spell all this out veru detgails that matter

photos , as in more then 1 use less words and use less important words too ...,.

It's actually a 1980 Fj40 with an 81 wiring harness and 2F engine from and 85 Fj60 with an internal voltage regulator on the alternator. It's not an original FST, but I've converted it to one with FST parts.

It's not charging my batteries. Had it worked on by an alternator hole in the wall and it still isn't! In fact now, when I crank and start it, the engine will not turn off unless I disconnect the battery!!

Why do they want it? Because that's what's on it and wired for on the harness.

your words : when I crank and start it, the engine will not turn off unless I disconnect the battery!! ( this is a ⛳ ) ....and time to pause and confirm and verify several various key step by steps outlined in your TAN 2F Engine FSM ..........

- i think perhaps you have a non-alternator issue here going on , if i am correct this would also cause your currently in-place & hooked up 27020-61081 DENSO your sporting there not to correctly charge the battery also , & also not keep your engine running as it should when you remove the B+ Positive battery cable like you go over above .......

- i suggest you take this path , before pulling the trigger on a NOS replacement 27020- 2-wire green plug ....

there very very scarce and hard to come by now in 2025 .......

hope this helps ...

i was not being snarky or sarcastic above Bruce .....

- l your trouble symptoms you go over above , one or more can in-fact be related , and now causing you to think or conclude your alternator is broken ?

- my point is , pulling the trigger on a new replacement same in kind
2-wire green plug OEM DENSO is in the realm of what i feel you should know , that things like that little square box saddled on the top piggy-back-like is your IC Voltage Regulator , so technically you do not a internally regulated one now ...... technically

this was the CIRA ERA in
NipponDenso charging system technology that they moved the REMOTE regulator BOXEs from the fire walls and fenders , but were not really sure and i say Scared yet to go Internal on them , so its a baby step to the BIG MOON Shot if you follow me here ......?

i personally : would UN-BOLT that little guy and do Exactly what you see me doing on and to every single 27020- , 27030- , 27040- , & 27060- that leaves my shop door to it's new forever adopted loving home / shop ....

if anyone suggests , or tells you any different then what i outline above and you see below ?
they are incorrect

it cost's ZERO imperial credits to confirm and verify if or if-not your
27020-61081 is faulty in one way or another ? a SOLID old-skool alternator shop or perhaps AUTO-ZONE / O'rileys will be able to pin-point the exact bad part / parts inside or ..........piggy-backed outside ..

.

..

then you will know , knowing is self-empowerment , and correct education is the path to it ......

trust me on this approach Bruce

this is the way ....

I wasn't /didn't mean to come across that you were!! Im just really aggravated about the alternator issue. 1, I took it to a shop for repair and paid $100+ for and now it's not working and engine won't turn off. 2, I searched around and found one on rock auto ( bad move I know) and they had one by picture and description ...the works. I bought it and waited a week got her and found it to be wrong, no voltage regulator!! Sent it back for a replacement and was charged $7 for shipping!! They sent another one, it arrived, same damn thing. Sent it back yesterday for a refund less another $25 shipping back to them since I couldn't print out their reduced shipping label!!

Your fine, Im the one being snarky.
Thanks for info. I have my 1980 tan Toyota 2F book /Aug, 1980 with me now and looking over the info trying not figure it all out.
I appreciate you info and time.

if i did not share / advise you how i did above , then i would not be doing what i have a passion for doing daily full time for a living . to only straight-talk in a parts topic here , that can be at the SOR ( S#IT out of reach ) level for some folks , requires the medicine being taken , then pause to digest it .....
