I've got to give my daughter credit for picking this one up. I assumed the latest 25 was originally red (that's what mainly shows through the peeling black) but it was green and she noticed it was different than my others.

So, I guess what I'm saying is the 1960 green was a lot darker forest green with some blue and the 1959 green was a little more olive.

Here is the inside of the 1959 pocket and a piece of one of the 1960's showing that color. :hhmm:

Rick, what did you end up with for your color match?

Jim, this dark green is the same color we found under the tan paint on my 1960. That is the same color on the under the bolt heads on the hinges and under the dash plate. We are going to have it matched and I will post the number when we have it. Rick

PS: Thanks for the package you sent!

All good info. No it's not faded, same color is under the dash and hood. I suspect that this isn't a US market 25, since it has A type bows. :hhmm: So apparently the production year is not the difference.

My 1960 is a hardtop and the green paint is also blue/green, same as the piece you have shown, so it must have been availabe in the U.S. on 1960 FJ's, I am sure it was the original paint on mine.

1958 from Australia with dark green paint

Jim, I think this is the color of green we are looking for, found this one on line and it is a 1958 from Australia.

Impossible to tell on a computer, but that one also changes like a chameleon depending on the picture :D

1960 Green paint

Finally got some paint on the 1960, looks like it is nearly the same color as Archie's down in Australia. We think we got a pretty good match to what seemed to be original. I will take some when it is all done and I can get it out in the sun.

Looking good Rick, the body color wheels are one of the unique things about the 25 though, other than the wheels themselves........... ;)

That looks great Rick...can't wait to see pics of her all back together!!

Was this the one from AZ?

Is this Judson Green or what color did you actually go with on the Fj? i have a 1964/5 that I am looking to paint. can you send me more photos?

Here are some updated pictures, before and after. Not sure of the actual paint code we used but I will get that for you in the next few days. While we stayed fairly close to the original concept, the purists will quickly see that we did change more than a few little things including the color of seat backs, seat padding and fabric (we went with the SOR upholstry) and we added dual brakes and seat belts. We licensed it as an everyday vehicle so I can drive it around town and not worry about being stopped with Antique plates on a day when there is not a viable excuse - Ohio is tough on Antique plates. We are still working thru some of the finishing touches (like wiper motors and a good spare wheel) on this 1960 hardtop and then will begin work on either the 1959 hardtop or the 1958 soft top next. Since I retired the pace has still not picked up very much but we have nearly finalized a lite blue 1964 FJ45 that has a Chevy 350 in it, I can post a pic of that if anyone reallys wants to see it.

Somewhere along the line I picked up some Landcruiser script transfers like the one shown in the final picture that I afixed to the rear door for identification. Does anyone know where I can get a few more of those? Thanks. Rick

I can confirm that I have got this exact same light / olive green underneath my dark green. As per VIN mine is a very early 1959 with taller tool box and 3 bolt fender attachment. Mine also got A type Bows. I was told that it was in service and did come with some 6 volt military black out and market light fittings, but then It had chevy motor in it with 12 volt generator so seems it was converted at some stage and hence the reason military lights were in the boxes and all the brackets were missing.

Also I believe mine never had original fj25 tail lights fitted to the tub from the factory since there was no sign of brackets ever fitted to the tub also we couldn't find any previous welding marks either.

Just wondering if Toyota used this light / olive green for military or service vehicles?
