Guys,
We are doing an extensive FJ45 truck project and I need some assistance from the experts here on Mud. I searched but Woody said just throw it out to you guys.
The info needed is on a removable top version and we will be using Aqualu parts.
Measurements needed:
1) SB and LB wheel base?

2) What are the dimensions of a cab? I need some basics, firewall to back cab, door opening to back of cab, width, height, etc. They just need to be rough.

3) Length of the short bed and long bed and where the center of the wheel opening is in relation to that.

4) this may be a long shot, but how about frame dimensions?

5) How much space is behind the seats of a factory cab?

Thanks a bunch,

Larry

My advice move to the 45 section.. You want Removable top shorty info or non-removable top info? Break it down into one question at a time. Easier to get answers. If you need extensive measurements holler, we have almost every 45 in our club and you can come visit with a tape measure..

edit by woody: the magic of the [code ] [/ code] tag ;)

I know I got FSM at home with most of this .. You wanting to build a from scratch rig .. How can we help you out.. Most of the frames are the same except for the extension on the LWB.. Let us know exactly what you need and we'll try to help.

TAC,
Yep, we are doing one from scratch with Aqualu parts.
We are building it to wheel, camp, run in the desert...a multipurpose rig which will more than likely pull an expedition type trailer.

I have extensive contacts in Australia and can have some stuff brought over if I need it with no issues.

I am working on gettting some it modeled in SolidWorks so we can work on a frame design. Still deciding between box or round tubing based rails.
Thoughts?

If you were building the 'perfect' 45, and could start from scratch, what would your ideas be?

Should I post in 'Hardcore' also or do most guys visit this forum also?
I don't want to be a cross posting newb:) !

OK, so I now have some WB dimensions. Can anyone help with the cab info?

Larry

Space behind the seats is minimal.. I know a fire extinguisher fits! :)
I can get you fixed top measurements inside the cab, but it'll be monday before I can do that.. The fixed top is smaller inside than the removable top due to the seat mounting.. Someone wanna measure a longbed?

Erik,
Thanks for the help...PM me your address and I will make sure some swag comes your way. I thought I would get more assistance than this? Am I asking the wrong questions?

We are going to use the 1978 and older cab with front cowl.

If you could extend the cab, what would be adequate, but still keep the overall feel of a FJ45. 5", 6" or ?

Thanks,
Larry

that reminds me....I'll be at a buddies cabin in a couple weeks and both he and his mom have FJ45 pickups..."might" even see him this weekend, but for sure the 24th....

don't recall which versions they are, all I know is I have dibs on his in 2007 ;)

I can get some inside cab measurements on a 65 fj45LWB removeable top if you still need some. I do not have any seats or s*** in them right now though.

Perfect ! The one we will be building will be a removeable top. I am just trying to decide how much to have the cab stretched.

All of thes are rough, just so you know.

Inside firewall to inside back of cab 53 inches

Outside rear width 64 inches

Inside rear width by rear door jambs 59 3/4 inches

Front of door opening to inside rear wall 43 inches

Rear of door opening to inside rear wall 10 1/2 inches

Inside floorboard to rear height where top would sit 21 1/2 inches

inside floorboard to front height where windshield would sit 28 1/2 inches

Outside rear height from bottom of rocker panel to where top would sit 25 inches

Outside front height from bottom of rocker panel to where windshield would sit 33 inches

HTH some
