I have a 2006 FJ-100 and recently I noticed that the molding on the Rear Quarter Windows where cracked on both driver and passenger sides.
Can you guys check to see if you have the same issue and report back?

Thanks in advance,

Manny

It might not be on everyone but it is on alot, make that most, of the ones that I see in mall parking lots. Don't bother looking into replacing yours unless you are ready to spend over $1k and potentially creating a few rattles as you have to rip out almost the entire rear interior to get to them.

I am getting mine replaced by Toyota.
The issue is that the VIN was etched at a slight angle so they have to replace both of them again.
I am just trying to show them that there are more trucks out there with the same problem.

Put a camera in your vehicle and anytime you see a parked 100 stop and look at it. If your experience is anything like mine you will have pleny of examples to take pictures of. That is assuming there are more than a few 100's running around where you live.

I thought it was a crack too but then after seeing it on EVERY lx or lc i saw in exactly the same spot i thought it was normal? It hasn't caused any issues in any way so it's not even on my ocd wishlist anymore.

Oh man, those slightly angled VIN etchings can get pretty bad. Hopefully the dealership will take full responsibility for this. Maybe go up the chain of command and talk to some with real power over the situation. Get someone fired.

Also, the D light on my dashboard has burnt out.

Maybe Slee or ARB can start building some quarterlight window armour to protect these moldings. They should by on hydraulic swingouts. With remote controls.

My 06's are cracked on both sides. In 2 spots on the pasenger side and 1 on the driver's (I think). Not worried about it.

Yup both sides are cracked on my 99, it's hardly noticeable though.

2000 had 2 cracks, my 04 has 1 crack, and my 03 has one on each side..sucks, but better than a ticky manifold..another common issue that drove me nuts but wasn't a critical problem

2 cracks on ds. Based on FSM, this is not a 1-banana job:mad:.

May try some flexible black epoxy but cracks are cosmetic only...no leaks.

...and yet another dead thread from 09 is resurrected.

mine are on the rigid plastic around the rear window, not the actual rubber weather stripping.

if yours are not cracked, you are doing it wrong. Mine are cracked on both sides. Never been an issue. I actually didn't even know i had them until Nick pointed them out. Thanks Nick.
