Just wrapping up maintenance to start using my 97 LC. It has 384k and wasn't installed with RS3000- drivers door and ignition are plenty worn. When I first bought it the PO accidently gave me the key to his tacoma and it worked locking/unlocking the door and starting it. I can even get into it with my tundra key.

I'd rather not give anyone with a older toyota key free rein to it. I'm planning on a kill switch, but is there any remedy for replacing the tumblers? I see the entire lock set, 69005-60330, having a stock forecast of 2 days on partsouq but NLA on amayama. Also see the ignition lock, 69057-60030, by itself but would like to retain one key for the entire truck.

Is the ignition switch get stuck and won’t go to the start position sometimes?

Have you attempted to get a new key cut using the Toyota code for your key? Often the problem is due to the key itself wearing, not the pins (blades) in the lock cylinder. If you attempt to make a new key by copying the old worn key the new key will be "worn" also.

Toyota dealerships used to be able to make you a new key from the code, you show them the registration and your driver's license and they can look up the code and cut a perfect key. Call your local dealer to ask.

If that doesn't work you should be able to rekey the lock cylinders so they all match, or find a good locksmith (generally not the kid in the mobile truck) who can do it for you.

You're ahead of the game if your 80 never had that kerapp alarm system that everyone pulls out.
