I decided to go with a rear bench instead of use the jump seats. I found a decent bench seat that comes in either fixed or I can get the fold and tumble feature for $50 more. Would you drop the extra $50 for the fold and tumble feature?
For those of you with this feature, do you use it?
For those of you without, do you wish you had it?

Thanks for any input.

I used the fold and tumble design if I needed to carry addtional stuff...kinda convenient.

For my current build (see the 1983 Troop Carrier Thread in the 45 section), I'm using a fold and tumble rear seat, but only using the "fold" feature, with the intent of having an extendable platform from the rear cargo box, which will allow for a sleeping platform in the vehicle.

FYI...the fold and tumble seats made for Jeeps are more narrow than the fender wells on a 40 series, you'l have about 4 inches on either side.

Hi, go for the tumble seat, give you alot of room when its folded out of the way.

Thanks for the input guys. Sounds like it will be smart to go with the fold and tumble seat.

Hltopper,
Troopy looks good, I'll be anxious to see that seat and sleeping platform when you are done.

Mitusbshi Montero seats will work and they tumble, forget which years but they are a snug fit.

Same here. We fabbed up a custom bracket, so when it's tumbled forward, I can remove the rear brace to open up the bed.

BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!

Use the Caravan 2nd row seat.Fab brackets and you have slider and quick release handles for easy/fast removal.Toss extra jackets and hoodies on it ,fold it down and they dont blow away with the top off.

Another slick idea!

Here you go. In the picture with the rear support removed, you can see the retaining bolt backed out. There's a hole in the tab that lines up with the retaining bolt.

Very cool. I think I'll try something like that. Looks like it even gives you room for your speaker boxes. How is the ride height for passengers?

The speakers fit nicely. It wasn't by design, though, just lucky. Since the only pax have been my 10 and 3 year olds in the back, there haven't been any complaints yet. I've sat back there while doing various projects and it seems fine to me.

I pulled the 'Zuk seat out of my 40 when I got it, and replaced it with a F&T out of a TJ from the junkyard. Seat, belts and all ran about $75, and it is big enough to hold my 6'2" 17 year old and his 10 year old sister. A sweet deal when wheeling open.

More pics please...

I would sure like to see a pic of the rear seat out of the TJ. I bought a tracker seat for $25 (thanks Ben) but I am not too excited about drilling holes in body. And figuring out seat belt placement will be interesting. fold and tumble rear seat is nice but fabricating brackets and a raised platfrom is tough when you do not have welding equip. Any pics of seat belt placement from Tracker/Sidekick conversion would be greatly appreciated.
