So in the states, the late model 5 lug wide pattern rims with a mild backspace and less than 7" width are nearly -really are impossible to find. I am looking at Stockton rim building 17 x 6 or 17 x 7 (maybe) or trying to get ENS 16" rims across the border. ALL US rims are 8" wide with 6-7" of backspace and are non fits. I got a set of cheap factory 18 x 8 spare rims (with multi holes around outside) and they hit tie rod arm in front and were within 1" of spring in rear. Spacing them would move tire into wheel well and require flares which is not under consideration.

The other idea is swapping hubs. Rear FF axle shafts are different part numbers but the shoes and backing plates are identical to 60 series style. I can borrow a drum rear hub to test fit in town.

Front hubs are a question so maybe later 80 series scalloped hubs but will the rotor fit in caliper?

does anyone have an 80 series hub sitting around to pull measurements off of?

What vehicle? In Aus we have the VDJ 70 series, all FF rear with discs. On them cant really do much easily on the rear, they are 32spine axles with 10mm studs and larger PCD on the axle flange than the 6 stud models, better off swapping whole housing. On the front "apprently" 80 series hubs can be swapped on with all the associated parts.

Hulsty=

hzj76 axles.

It looks like in the rear, 80 series hubs could be drilled out to take 10mm studs and accept the axle shafts then drums can be sourced from 60/70 series.

In the front, spindle takes 80 series hub but what of the rotor and fitment of the brake system?

I have the larger HZ79 birf and drive flange on my 1990 HDJ80, drilled out the 80*s hub dowels and studs to accept the larger 79*s parts other than that the front end is identical.
For the next project I will look into machining/cutting/ welding new drive flanges to mate the 80*s hub to 79*s drive flange because the 79 outer birf stub is slightly larger.

Note: Only because I have a local supplier of above parts!

REAR hzj76 hubs are 110mm in diameter, early 70 series and 1996 90 series are 105mm

stud center to center is about 89mm on early, 91mm on late.

I have a couple hubs and will drop by a machinist and see what can be done either a ring or welded bead to support new stud position in 80 series rear hubs. Either way it has to be cost effective to not buy new axle shafts.
