A few years back I had a company van that would not clear by just a couple of inches, so a little pre-planning is in order. So ... an FJ with stock tires and no rack is 72" according to the specs I have. That means I can have .....1" height add from 285/70/17 BFG tires3" lift kit - Revtech, coils, or whatever as long as height not more than 3" more5" Gobi Stealth rackTotal 9" added ... which should be fine .. or am I missing something? Now, for width! The specs say 75" width? Is that mirror to mirror? My F150 doesn't have a whole lot of space width wise and I am sure the FJ is wider, a little worried. It simply HAS to fit in the garage, there is no way I would leave a beautiful truck like that sitting out on a street lined with sappy trees and skateboarding brats.

I here you.

I am in the process of cleaning out my garage so I can fit two cars. My FJ40 always stays in the garage and I need to see if I can squeeze in the FJ Cruiser.

As is now it has been sitting on the street :-(

Could someone measure the width of their FJ from tip of mirror to mirror please? - thanks in advance

NO ONE has a measuring tape and two minutes?

I measure 80 1/4" from outboard mirror edge to outboard mirror edge, with the mirrors extended.

With them folded in, I would assume the car is every bit of the 75" width stated. The plastic flares on the rear fenders aren't all that far inside the extended mirrors.

LOL I am working hard on my garage too so both will fit. My old Cherokee sits in the driveway, but not my new FJ!!!

You all are afraid of leaving your FJ outside? A rough and tumble off-roading vehicle, and you are all afraid of leaving it outside? Unless you live in car theft/vandal central, seems like worrying about nothing.

I always figured it was better to have the car being ventilated (by the wind) resulting in more thorough drying-out. Seems like packing it in a garage would let the water sit and rust. Am i crazy?

Tell that to my poor Cherokee that got beaten up by hail a month ago. My FJ said he wanted to be protected from such indiginty!

On a MORE serious note: I am a high school teacher living in rival territory. I think I will keep my FJ safely in the garage with my Wrangler.
