Honestly those grabhandle rod holders have always caught my eye. But for me they'd only work when going from camp to fishing spots, which are usually 10min away. So I've never bought them. I just place my rods in the trunk over the seats and be done with it.
Transportation for me usually includes strapping up to 4 rods to the grab handles using elastic nylon bands, reels go in my bags. I never transport my rods and reels together. If I'm going with more fishermen, I have a Plano Rod case I strap to the roof rack.
I use one piece rods that are 7 feet or less.
