First try at painting.

As soon as the sprinkling stops, I will be painting up my 2 frames with DP90LF.

Its a first try so I have my fingers crossed. I will just spray down the driveway, crank up the engine hoist and shoot it. I'll post pictures.

Well, by 2 I had painted 1 coat of primer on the frame. It looks pretty good for my first time. It took some time to figure out the air/paint mixture screws on my gun.

It was good to practice painting on the trailer. 2 coats on this trailer took 1/4 gallon of DP90. I still need to touch up a few areas I missed due to the sun being in my face. I think it turned out pretty good. I may paint the LV frame tomorrow if the weather holds. Then I'll spray both frames with some clear next week or the week after (before It gets cold)

I like the dp90lf.

I put a total of 1/2 gallon on this frame or 3 coats. It looks very good. Before I sprayed the first coat, I sprayed the driveway down with water to wash the dirt and dust away from my painting area.

The wind was probably 2-3 miles per hour all day and only one side had about 20 small dirt spots that were painted over. I just took some 220 grit and sanded that side, then painted over it the next day and it looks very nice.

This is just a frame, a body would probably show more.

I've learned alot on this first paint. I put about 3 times too much primer on to get it complete. Then I adjusted the gun and it sprayed it perfect on the axles the first time. "shrug". I'm mocking this up as education. You have to pay to learn... this mistake = $60.

Then it was back to hemmin and hawin about just spraying clear over or doing paint. The clear was $200 for a gallon, but I went with a pint of the OMNI line. That stuff sprayed on very nice with the gun adjustments.

I haven't posted pictures for a while so I'll post up the progress. Yesterday I sandblasted the axles and a spring, then ran out of time. Had enought light to put some DP90 on the parts and painted them with the OMNI line tonight.

Need to order spring pins and U-bolts and do a little more sandblasting / painting ... then The trailer will be back to new.

My 150lb drop blaster cleans junk 3 times quicker than the cabinet.

For your first paint job, that looks tremendous! PPG's Omni line is a great paint. Not too costly, and still lays down really nicely. It's much more user-friendly than some of the other lines. Very nice job! Good lookin trailer! Lets get some LV shots on there....shall we?
