Hey guys,

The Princess is needing a new ride and I know of an original owner, 04 that is going to be going for sale soon. Never been wheeled, regular service at Toyota, no accidents or hail a few slight dings and scratches 125000 on the ticker.

First question. What would be a fair price? I was seeing private party sale is $18000. This Cruiser has all the bells and whistles.

Second Question. What service items should I be looking into on that mileage. I am going to check to see if the timing belt has been done and possibly the starter contacts and the usual stuff brakes and tires. Anything else I need to look into?

Third Question. I have owned about every other series Land Cruiser except for a 100. I am going to try and restrain myself and keep this sucker stock as possible and use it for my wives daily driver family ride. What would be some mods you for see me doing on a daily driver, non wheeled Cruiser?

Hopefully I can make this purchase. My wife is hesitant because she has seen the money I have put into my other Cruisers. I hope I can restrain myself enough to just maintain it with OEM parts and drive her for the next decade. Any words of convincing for her would be appreciated. She is kind of set on a Chevy Traverse......Yuk so against my grain. Got to keep her happy though. I think she will really like a 100 after she drives one. She really liked my sister's Sequoia.

I recently bought my 04 LX. That looks like a good deal to me with THAT history.
As for the other questions, I will let those who know more answer those....

Forgot to add:
Ask about WATER LEAKS. I am 100% happy with my 100, BUT, the damn passenger side leak is infuriating.
If you have a chance to talk to the actual owner, I would look into water leaks.

If its truly going to be your wife's vehicle...best advice: Let her choose after driving both. Then, if its the 100, do yourself and your wife (!) a favor and leave it stock. Except for installing the front ARB locker :)

Or buy a nice '06 Sequoia...then your temptation to mod is lost...nice vehicle and a nice fuse for you both :D

Do you guys know what the mpg difference is between the Sequoia and the 100?

Buddy gets 18-19 hwy with his '06 Sequioa...the 2UZ-FE is most efficient at 2,000rpm...

My 2002 LX470 averages just under 12 mpg in town and about 14 mpg on highway (at 75 mph). It has 230,000 miles on the clock.

One thing you can do the day you buy the truck is clean the thottle body. It takes about 15 min and costs less than $10 for the cleaner. I saw a 8% improvement in gass milage and no longer felt a jerk after accelerating from a stop.

Also spend some time in the FAQ in the 100 series section and check out the Slee buyer's list.

My folks just bought an 06 Sequoia and it's very nice. It's not in the same league as the 100, but then neither is the price. If you truly want to leave it stock, the big tree might be a better choice since it's bigger, cheaper, and get's better mpgs but still has a great drivetrain and will last a very long time.

What did they change in 06 on the Sequoia that gave it better MPG?

.
Grow a pair and buy the 100. Tell the wifey to drive it, and to be thankful you don't make her walk.

And by all means, please post here and let us know how that goes...:)

You're comparing a $30K vehicle (Traverse) to a $65K vehicle (when new 11 years ago!). Build quality and long-term reliability of the LC is why most of us own them. Why does she want a Traverse? If it's because of the size, she may not like driving the 100. My wife prefers her Ody over the LC any day, well except maybe in a Blizzard.

1. As a data point, I paid $18K for my '03 with 88k miles on it last year from the original owner. It needed timing belt service, 90k service, new windshield, new tires, new rear brakes, and an airbag light was on. If the '04 was serviced regularly, never in any accidents, and is rust free, $18K would be a good price.

2. Beyond the stuff you mentioned, you should baseline with all new fluids and see if the 90k service was done (plugs, air filter, etc.)

3. DD, non wheeled cruiser doesn't need any mods. Great rig right out of the factory!

My favorite mod on the wife 100 is the fridge. She thought I was crazy. You could get AHC, add tires, step sliders and it would still be pretty stock. Sequoia is meh compared to a 100, it's a tundra bus.... I'd rather have a 4runner if given the choice.

If my wife bought a GM, that's fine but I wouldn't touch it, drive it, or want to hear about it.
