I have been on MUD for quite some time now and have yet to have posted any pics. I have been working on my 72 FJ40 for 4 years. When I started it was not about the end result as much as it has been about having something in the garage to work on. I bought this a little over 4 years ago, drove it around the block once and put it the garage. I thought a little body work, some cleaning, replace a few parts and I would be driving by summer. At least that was the story I told my wife. The body was riddled with holes. I spent so much time welding and patching I think I may have been money ahead just having bought a new tub. I ended up taking the body off the frame putting a 1986 FJ60 motor and transmission in. New brakes and lines front and rear, saginaw power steering, GM tilt column, power seats, etc. In fact my garage still has loads of parts in it. So I'm finally getting the itch to get this thing done. I will be taking a vacation in the next couple of weeks and painting it. I just thought it was about time I post some pics. Have not decided on wheels and tires just yet.

It is a Rough Country lift. This is actually the second Rough Country lift I put on it. The first one that was sent to me had springs that were so short I could not even attach the shackles. However, once I called the vendor new ones were sent to me without hesitation. I had replacement in just a couple of days.

those are nice seats ,where did you get the seat brackets? but all in all that is nice work so far . like to see it finished . post pics .

If I remember correctly the seats are out of a 90s model Chrysler. Pretty sure it was a Cirrus. The seat brackets were something I fabricated.

that rear shackle angle is going to result in one rough riding SOB.

I started the prep work on Saturday thinking I would be applying paint by Saturday evening. Not even close! Prep work all day Saturday and Sunday. Monday was setting up the painting equipment and taping off the truck (and taping off everything in the garage I did not want painted green). Everything was sanded with 400 wet and dry. I'm using a single stage paint with a sealer applied first. By 9:30pm I had both fenders, the bib, the underside of the hood, one apron, and half of the tub painted "breathe green". So far the paint is going on well. I took quite a few pictures with my cell phone but most turned out poorly. Here is a picture of the color on some of the smaller items. I will finish up tomorrow.......maybe!
