Hello! I've always wanted a Land Cruiser and just bought my first. A '99 w/ 112k miles. Super pleased with it as it's been extremely well kept with interior in near perfect condition. Would love to build it up over time. Starting to get a rather extensive wish list though; I'm sure there are many here who know what I mean. Nevertheless, first on the list is a 2.5" OME suspension upgrade.

Here is the "Hi" and Welcome to the forum. As you already noted, many-many hours of good reading. If your a do-it-yourselfer, then you have many-many days of reading ahead of you.
 
sounds like you got a great truck. i always wanted an LC too since high school in 1985, and i drove 7 toy pickups since then, so i know how it feels to finally own The One you've been waiting for :cheers:

regarding modifications versus expense, it will take you far right out of the box, i recommend driving it for a while before you decide what your priorities are. going one size up in tires and removing the running boards might (economically) begin to satisfy your desire for "lift".
 
Welcome, where are you located? I just recently purchased a 99 with only 82K on it. It's getting the 90K service done as I type this...

I'm in Franklin, Tennessee. Just moved here from Kona, Hawaii. As far as I'm aware there doesn't seem to be many LC specialists out here, at least not like out west. If anybody knows of any good shops in the Nashville/Franklin area let me know. Thanks!

Congrats and welcome!

From your pics, a few things were screaming at me that aren't characteristic of '99 models. The tail lights are of the aftermarket LED type. And the name plate molding on the rear hatch started on '03 models.

Either way, it's a great looking truck and I'm beginning to love white 100s. (mine's black).

Yes, good eye. The previous owner did change the name plate molding, led tails, and replaced the gold badges with chrome. I am particularly happy that the gold badges are gone.

Also, anybody know biggest BFG AT I can fit right now w/ stock setup on 16" rim?

I know right?! It appears that way! Living here in Nashville/Franklin I have never seen so many LCs and LXs in my life. This place is saturated. Lots of 08-12s and 570s too
