All, not looking to profit off it, but I’m first in line for the regular Land Cruiser but my wife just saw the new 4Runner and prefers that. So now I can either
transfer my $1000 deposit to the new 4Runner and give up my place in the Land Cruiser line, or, I could just put a separate new deposit on the new 4Runner and see if I could transfer my place in line to someone. Again not looking to profit, just don’t want my place in line to go to waste.

From the dealers I’ve talked to, they don’t/can’t sell cars outside of market. Not sure if someone could slide into your spot?

Is it a first edition? Color? FIO and PIO? Selling at MSRP?

Shouldn't it be up to the dealership? Seems kind of rotten to #2 in line that you can just sell your spot.

Talked with dealership yesterday and they said I could spec out preference and they'd try for it. The salesperson did make it sound like I could spec it exactly as I'd want it, but from past Toyota/Lexus purchases a custom order doesn't really seem something that the dealership can do. As for model I'm on the list for the regular Land Cruiser (not the 1958 or First Edition).

Definitely not trying to 'sell' my deposit. The deposit was $1000 and that's all that I'd expect to recoup, which should be more than reasonable given that I can just get the entirety of it refunded or transfer it to the new 4Runner. Zero profiteering whatsoever in a situation where I'm guessing there could be. Would it not be 'rotten' if I just gave the place in line away and ate the $1000 that I could otherwise get refunded ???

But if that is viewed by some as 'rotten' then apologies for floating the idea. Just thought my spot in line could go to a fellow enthusiast as doing so would not cause a single days worth of extra wait for the 2nd person in line than they're currently facing.

Is the dealer supportive of you swapping your spot with someone else?
Salesperson made it seem so, but I definitely want to hear it from the GM's mouth (and his handwriting) before moving forward.

My plan is to wait until Tuesday when the 250 LC review embargo is lifted to see if I can't convince the wife to stick with the LC.

Not shady to give your spot up. I’d be surprised if they allow it, but not shady on your behalf

I have not heard anything about a review embargo? Can you elaborate?
Watched a couple videos on the new 4Runner and noticed that both the Throttle House and TFL guys mentioned that they' have to wait until Tuesday (Apr 16th) to release their full 250 series Land Cruiser reviews ... they wouldn't even mention the driving dynamics of the 250 until then. The UK reviews for the 250 diesel model they get are already out though.
