Any issue using fipg along with a new gasket on the input shaft plate for a 4 speed trans?
Just want to be double sure it doesn't leak again.

No issue - and I agree, having done it, that you don't want to to it again. A thin coating on both sides of the gasket.

Plane the cap on a piece of glass with sandpaper - make sure mating surfaces are clean and flat. Look where the bolt heads apply the closing pressure - should be flat there too. Use a torque wrench in pattern by 1/3. If its a paper/cork/fiber gasket I soak them in warm water for like a half hour before the install - a softened gasket lets the high spots dig in easily. After a few days re-torque the bolts in pattern at 100%.
