how did you do the grille? did you tape it off and put newspapers behind it?
The grille is where this whole process began lol. I had originally spent an inordinate amount of time sanding, prepping, and painting it with regular rattlecan. Looked great sitting on the ground in the sunlight drying, then I put it back on the truck and was pretty disappointed with how badly the black was mismatched. Not even CLOSE. So, I said screw it and hit it with the plastidip I had left over from doing the emblems. Much happier with the result. Less prep too, just wipe w/ alcohol and hit it. After that, I decided to give it a try on the rest of the trim and bumper, and as you can see it turned out pretty well.
To more directly answer your question, I pulled the grille off the truck to do all of the painting. It's three or four screws and a couple of clips. No reason to leave it on IMO, you can do a much better job with it off.
