So I took the plunge and got new wheels and tires. I couldn't stomach the time I'd been waiting (or expense of a nice set) for rock warriors so I tried to find the most "OEM-ish" wheels I could. I'm liking the look over stock. The extra rubber of the bigger tires and smaller rims sure makes a big visual difference. At first I was like "woah, is that too much rubber", but it quickly grew on me. I still may go down a size since I know it's the one toyota spec'd for, but did i mention I like the rubber, haha. We'll see. As for the wheels, I sure like the extra offset with the 2" lift.

Here's the details:
  1. 285/75/17 Yokohama Geolandar AT4. Index:121S, LoadRange: E1
    1. @gaijin Can you help me out with the RCTIP in this application?
    2. So far feels a little more "sure footed" than the Terra Grappler G2's that were on it. I was a little worried about it not feeling as planted going from 18 to 17 with a higher aspect, but these feel great so far. No noticeable noise difference.
  2. Method MR316 - 17x8 - +25 Offset
    1. I was on the lookout for brake caliper clearance reading other posts about 17's, so asked them to test fit and let me see it before mounting. There was more room than i was expecting. About a finger width. No issues with fitting with balance weights
  3. New TPMS sensors - Denso 5500103 from RockAuto (as suggested by other forum posts on the subject). Discount tire had no problem installing.

How long is it going to take you to think they look small and want some 37s?
vegas is telling me they need another week to set the over/under 🤣

nahhh not likely, this is already testing the limits of my silly practicality. damn my practicality

Love the color combo here!

What rear bumper is that?

How are you liking those yokohamas so far? Any closer up pictures of the wheels/tires?

Glad to help 👍

The RCTIP for those LT285/75R17 tires on your LC200 is 37psi F/R.

HTH

Nice! I have the same wheels on my silver LX. Definitely makes it look a little more "truck" and a little less "school run"

Thanks! I was close to getting a bronze wheel but chickened out, hah. ARB rear bumper sans tire carrier.

Thank you sir!

I'd be happy to get some closer pics. Definitely pleased so far. Better feel all around than the Nitto's I had on there. Not sure what role the new wheel size/offset is playing though, if any. I'm 90% on road so wanted something with decent mileage and noise but still some off road chops. I had my eyes on the G015's and found that this was the new replacement and gave it a go.

Thanks for mentioning. I see you're a silver as well. Hah "The Minivan". What size tires are you running? Happy with the size?
I'm running 35x12.5 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT. Not as practical as the 34's, but I like them a lot. Improved the road manners, handling and the offroad character quite a bit compared to the 285/75r18 I was running before. I was expecting more compromises, but frankly, I find them better at everything (except MPG lol). Admittedly, my old tires were pretty worn when I replaced them.

Looks nice! Just came across those tires my self, i don't know if I want to run the x-at's or these, especially since my 200 will be more on road than off.. can you get side profile pics of the truck and from the front or rear? Would love to see how much "poke" if any on those wheels/tires.

Really liking my X-ATs. For as aggressive as they are (R/T category tire), they have all the finishing school NVH qualities on par to A/T which I was after and pleasantly surprised with.

I haven't driven AT4s myself, but where I believe they'll have an advantage is MPG efficiency, street handling and cornering traction, cold and winter weather traction, and treadlife. If you don't off-road much or aggressively AT4s would be my choice.

I do like the look of the AT4. Not wildly aggressive, but still enough to not look like a full on highway terrain either. Interesting though that the sipes don't appear to be full depth. Unless they are doing some sort of internal trickery and they do go full depth. The current pattern looks like it'd do pretty well in snowy conditions. Wish they had options for load D or C 18" tires though.

Wow you're right about the sipes. I wish I'd have noticed that before. On their website they do state that they use a "Triple 3D sipe" technology that changes shape as the tire wears. But doesn't say anything about being full length. I sent a message to Yokohama and will update here if I get a reply. That would seem a bit naughty since that would change the performance (?) once you get past a certain wear.

I bet they just no longer extend out to the edge of the tread blocks when they wear down. Not as bad as the old Falken Wildpeak AT01's that would loose all of their side-side tread grooves after a certain mileage, essentially becoming tractor fronts with nothing but longitudinal grooves running the whole circumference of the tire.

I’m picking up a 2016 with the same size tire/wheel combo and the PO said it does rub a little at full lock. Did you just heat gun the liner to solve that or do something else to help?
