Finally after years of lurking I'm officially part of the gang! It took me 2 years of searching on and off and I think it paid off.

It's a mint 97 CE Locked, White with Gray interior, 83K Miles, CA vehicle, No Accidents and I'm the 2nd owner.

On it's maiden voyage, I decided to take a solo run to Rowher Flats over the Labor Day weekend. The OHV area was deserted probably due to the extreme heat we have over here for the past few days. So I had the park to myself.

As I make my way up the summit, I noticed a blue dot in the distance. I thought maybe some one has raised a tent. As I get closer to the summit, it became clear that it was an FJ cruiser.

I pulled up to greet them. I found out from our short conversation, that the FJC's front lower control arm as separated from the upright (knuckle). Apparently the owner had put on OME suspension the day before and the installer forgot to tighen the bolts!!. That is why it looked like the tie rod was broken.

I just decided to hang out with them until the tow truck came 5hrs later. We also witnessed a few lightings which started bush fires about 10 miles away. Then the super scooper planes dropping off water on them. Other than that it turned out to be a pretty good afternoon.

Here is the link to their trip which I wasn't aware of.

Some mods I'm planning to do in the near future.

JDM Aux Fan (perfect for trails and LA traffic)
Toyota Drive Belts (engine whines like it has a super charger)
CDL Switch
#7 Pin mod
JDM Clear Corner Lens (Bling!)

cool man, congrats. tell me next time you go, Rowher is pretty close to me.

This vehicle fits the description of "the one that got away". My good friend said he was going to buy a white/grey 83k mile rig... then it was gone. Congrats!

Very nice ride. :flipoff2:
I'd like to see those planes dropping the water.

I picked it up in a used car dealer in Sacramento after seeing it listed on Autotrader. According to them it was traded in at a Honda dealership . Since the Honda dealership only wants to carry honda used cars, he traded them a Honda so he can have the 80 on his lot.

I was suppose to look at this 80 on ebay the day before

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1997...154851582QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item250154851582

but it was sold the next day and the auction ended early. It has an accident and I'll be the 5th? owner if I got it. I'm very happy I settled for this one. I probably paid too much, but a good clean and locked 80 is really hard to find these days. This is a keeper.

You definitely made the right choice IMO. Congrats and welcome. :flipoff2:
