Filler door not popping open

My gas filler door - the handle in the car works, and if I/or someone puts a little 'opening' pressure on the filler door while someone is pulling the handle it will open
BUT, if Im on my own and pull the handle it wont pop the door open and I dont have a key for that filler door
Is there any fix to give it a little pressure on the door so when you pull the lever it'll pop open?

Currently, and what the previous owner did, was pop the interior panel in the cargo off and manually operate the cable while putting pressure to open the door.

The spring on your fuel door is missing.
There is a small piece of flat metal spring on the hinge side that pushes the door open when
you pull the release inside.

( It’s not a 60s fuel door, but you get the idea. )

Thank you, eight dollars later and 10 seconds for install and she works properly now!

I want to add - it was 8 bucks (8.88 with tax) for the spring, and the guy threw in two key blanks. Not bad.
