I can get a great deal on a 3/4 fiberglass tub ( and I am savy on repairing fiberglass if the need arises) but I am nervous about saying goodbye to the original steel.

I think it will be too costly with parts and labor to replace all the rusted steel and there is already body work done.

Here are a few pics... Should I go fiberglass?

your tub doesnt look all, that bad...but...being NYC if yours is a DD the salt will kill it quick.

I did alot to save my tub...my past tub was great 18 years ago...and 11 years ago it was shot.

and new fenders 8 years ago...are now cheese...

my new tub is steel but...its a "Poor Wally Tub"...a very hard core tub.

I am replacing my front fenders with a pair of used fiberglass ones.

Tough desision you have ...because like i said the tub doesnt look all that bad.

Is you rig going to be a DD? weekend cruiser? trail truck?

DD for a very short commute. I have a good cowl, but the problem is there was some shotty repair work done previously + the sill pass floor, bed and fender supports are all gone. It is simply a money issue at this point...all these parts + paying someone to install. Fiberglass will not rust again and is much easier to repair than aluminum. Tough choice

never saw a 3/4 fiberglass tub? always thought they were full tubs with cowl/firewall as 1 piece.

how do you make the connection between the metal and fiberglass?

not as easy to use the tub as a ground.

The wiring on fiberglass can be a pain in the ass, but it's not bad otherwise. I'm not sure I've ever seen a 3/4 fiberglass tub.
