So what was the culprit preventing it from seating? Congrats on getting it done!
I think it was the clutch not being aligned properly. I aligned it and lightly re greased everything a few days ago so had it all rready to go.
Having 2 ppl is really helpful too.

The next project is figuring out how to get the throttle linkage to work with the holley carb that came the motor. Does anyone have a pic of what bracket they use w/ their Holley?

It was misaligned.
I ended up using 2 bolts to carefully pull it in once I verified everything was correct and it just had a tiny bit of resistance probably due to the disk not being perfectly centered once that popped into place it went right together.

dont ever use the bolts to pull a clutch together unless you know exactly what you're doing because you can destroy expensive parts that way.

Do as i say not as i uh did today...

I have a Holley in a box with parts, not sure whats there, but yours if you want

Question: On the reverse light tranny connections, are these 2 pins designed to have the wires soldered on or, is there some sort of electrical connector that should be used here? The wires were taped on and looked like a feble attempt to connect them but am sure theres a better way...
