Not bad a little snug
If it's not a tight fit then lift up slightly as you tighten the pressure plate bolts to help get it more centered, if you hold it straight and gravity thing again your clutch disk will be low.
When you tighten the pressure plate bolts again try to get them even loose and when your clutch disk exactly were you want it tighten them up even so you don't (squeeze) the disk to one side or the other.

One thought, the grease in the pilot bearing hole could cause an air lock and keep the shaft from going in all of the way.

I have used those clutch alignment tools before and thought it was all good, but the tool didn’t fit quite right and was not fully engaging the pilot bearing. I had to modify it by sanding the end down to fit. That clutch disc has to be perfectly in alignment.

I think you might be right re has to be spot on. I took the bottom of the belhousing cover off so I can see if theres anything else thats hanging it up. diving back in after this rain stops
 
Rain stopped! I took off bottom BH cover and also loosened the PP bolts and repositioned the clutch. alirnment tool slides in/out w little effort.
Small amt of grease on all the proper surfaces. Gonna give it a shot again when I have a bit more time tihs weekend. @RUSH55 has been a huge help on this one.🙏
